Now Hiring: Program Officer

The program officer will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for assisting in implementing, reviewing, and managing Sarkeys Foundation grants program.  In addition, the program officer will help oversee the Foundation’s public relations/community relations activities, including preparing annual reports, press releases, brochures, websites, social media, and other aspects of the communications plan.  The person filling this role will be a key member of the Foundation’s staff, working with the Executive Director, other staff members, and members of the Board of Trustees to implement grant-making goals and educational programs that result in achieving the mission and vision of Sarkeys Foundation.   

Responsibilities:

  • Assist potential grantees on grant applications, conduct site visits, review proposals, prepare written summaries and analysis of grant applications, formulate recommendations to aid trustees in evaluating and making awards, make presentations to the Board on grant applications, and conduct post-grant follow-ups.

  • Stay informed about and follow up as necessary on grant-related issues throughout the grants’ duration. 

  • Arrange for technical assistance for grants, as needed.

  • Work with the Executive Director and staff to assist in coordinating and planning educational programs and workshops hosted by the Foundation.

  • Speak on panels and at meetings; represent Sarkeys Foundation at lunches, meetings, groundbreakings, and open houses.

  • Attend conferences and seminars.

  • Work with the Executive Director to assist with public relations/community relations and social media; write press releases and coordinate annual reports and brochures for workshops and conferences. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 5 years of experience working in the nonprofit and/or charitable giving sector preferred.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft-based programs, general IT knowledge, and an ability to learn and master other computer technology/software programs, including Foundant.

  • Extensive communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Significant skills in organizing, analyzing, presenting data, reaching conclusions, and developing recommendations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various individuals.

  • Must be motivated and results-oriented.
